Beginning Monday, March 14 masks became optional at Holy Family Parish School and at Holy Family Parish Preschool—not required.

King County announced the ending of their mask mandate beginning March 11, 2022. “In addition, King County will not be extending a local mask order for schools and childcares beyond the state’s order.”

Archbishop Etienne has stated that masks will no longer be required in the Archdiocese of Seattle. The Office of Catholic Schools is supporting the lifting of the mask requirement as well. Therefore, at HFK beginning March 14, masks indoors became optional—not required.

We honor each family and staff member’s right to choose to wear a mask or not. It will be vitally important that everyone is treated with respect, regardless of their choice. We support everyone’s choice with the expectation that our school community will continue to respect everyone’s individual preferences. For students and staff who choose to continue wearing a mask, it can be any type of mask. There is no longer a requirement for the type of mask that is worn at HFK. To add in a new layer of safety, with many students and staff not wearing masks, every learning space at HFK has received a new Medify portable air purifier which can complete four air changes per hour and remove 99% of Covid particles.

Reminders

While we are moving into a new phase of the pandemic, Covid remains with us, and it should be recognized the Covid pandemic response must remain flexible with the possibility for changes that occur at the state and local levels. We will continue with other Covid safety protocols (physical distancing to the degree possible, respiratory etiquette and hand hygiene, cleaning and disinfecting, and enhancing ventilation). Please remain diligent about keeping your child home when they exhibit symptoms of Covid.
