Math and Literacy Stations, Oh My!

On Monday, we started Unit 2 of our Journeys literacy program. We read a fable about a little boy who quickly learns a life lesson about the importance of telling the truth.
Students also worked at stations this week during literacy on Tuesday and Thursday. They are getting very good at working in small groups and rotating to the next station when it is time. Soon we will be ready for our parent volunteers to come in and help at a station or two.
This Week’s Literacy Stations:
* Comprehension and Fluency with Mrs. Leitch
* Word Study with Mrs. Lapke
* Pharaoh’s Phonics with Mrs. Peterson

Stations were also introduced in math this week. After beginning Chapter 3: Addition to 20 on Monday and Tuesday, the class worked at stations on Wednesday and Thursday.
This Week’s Math Stations:
* Pegs in the Park
* Addition Squares
* Addition War (card game)
* Seat work (after introduce the new chapter, students worked in their math packets independently at their desks)
