My Famous American is Helen Keller

 

 

Interesting Facts:

When Helen was only a child she had “Brain Fever.” She was very sick. When her fever finally cleared she was left deaf, blind,  and mute. When Annie Sullivan came and started teaching Helen, she began to understand speech. But Helen was so determined that she was going to be properly educated that she went to high school.  But her dream was not done. Helen wanted to go to college.  She wanted to go to Radcliff. She  finished Radcliff  in June 1904. Then Helen wanted to go out into the world and be accepted as a normal person. She  fought for what she believed in.  She loved all people.  Helen traveled all over. There was even a movie made about her. She wrote a book about herself. Helen Keller died in 1968 in Westport, Connecticut. She was 88. Helen inspired many disabled people.
