History

Bishop Edward J. O'Dea established the parish in the fall of 1915. The need for a Catholic educational facility was recognized and in September of 1957 the Dominican Sisters of St. Thomas Aquinas opened the school.

Curriculum

Holy Family Parish School's curriculum is a composite of textbooks, teacher-developed materials, Washington State Essential Learnings, and subject-specific standards. This includes teacher editions, programs of study, supplementary curricular activities with guided learning experiences needed to develop the whole child. Religion is of primary importance in the curriculum since Holy Family Parish School exists to teach the message of Jesus Christ to its students. The subjects taught at Holy Family Parish School include religion, personal safety, mathematics, reading/literature, English, spelling, handwriting, technology, physical education, science, social studies, fine arts including art, music - vocal and instrumental, drama and library skills.

Instructional Strategies

>Holy Family Parish School teachers implement a multitude of teaching strategies to meet the needs of a variety of learners. Our staff is collaborative and integrates curriculum areas to provide group problem solving experiences, hands-on activities, experimentation, and opportunities for real-life applications

Extracurricular Activities

The school sponsors an extensive program of athletics and non-athletic activities and encourages each student's participation in these extracurricular activities. By such participation, the students make new friends, develops physical and mental potential, learns teamwork, helps build school spirit, and fosters school pride. Such activities include Scouts, CYO team sports, honor choir, drama club, yearbook, speech tournaments, math tournament and ski bus.

Extended Child Care

Kids Club is a state licensed before and after school program. The hours are 7:00 am - 8:15 am before school and 3:15 PM to 6:00 PM after school. We also offer care for kindergartners after the morning class session. During Kids Club the children have an opportunity to work on homework, play with friends and enjoy staff directed games and projects. Children may participate in after school activities as well.
